Early Life & Community Roots
Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari was born and raised in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State. His early education was shaped by the values of community and discipline instilled in him from a young age.
He attended the Government Teachers’ College Bakura, where he developed the foundations of public service and education that would guide his career. He later pursued studies in public administration, equipping himself with the tools to manage public resources and build institutions.
Growing up in northwestern Nigeria gave him an enduring appreciation of the challenges facing rural communities, an understanding that continues to define his approach to governance.
Building Institutions, Not Personalities.
Yari’s approach to leadership rests on three pillars: building strong institutions that outlast any single tenure, managing public resources with the prudence of a family household, and investing consistently in community empowerment that creates lasting, generational impact.
This philosophy has guided every chapter, from party organising in Zamfara to two terms as Executive Governor, and now into the Senate. Today, he chairs the Senate Committee on Water Resources in the 10th National Assembly and serves as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
